The path to the final saw GA dispatch different opponents than last year but they met up with Agnes Irwin once again to compete for the Championship. With convincing wins against St. Ann's of Brooklyn, Episcopal Academy of Philadelphia and Deerfield Academy the Gators found themselves in a familiar place for the last match of the tournament. Nerves struck everyone at the Trinity College squash courts when, in their first two matches, the Gators dropped a game each. But soon the butterflies settled and shots once again had precision as GA went on to win three out of their first four matches needing only one more to clinch. And that they did! This is the 4thyear in a row that GA has earned the Patterson Cup and the program's 13thNational Championship overall.
Meanwhile, the Varsity B opened up with a 4-3 over Lawrenceville only to be beat by semi-finalist and previous Champions, Baldwin. The Gators rebounded from that loss to post an impressive 5-2 win over Nobles to propel them to the Classic Plate Final against Episcopal Academy. GA competed honorably and lost a tight match 3-4 with two contests going to 5 games.
GA's JV squad competed in the second draw where they opened up against a talented team from Taft and struggled to pick up a game. Next they faced to Rye High School and while they didn't come away with the win they did notch their first win of the tournament. While the team took 3 games off of Brooklyn's Poly Prep it was not enough to make it to advance. In their final match of the tournament GA played St. George's School of Middletown, RI where they mustered two wins out of seven.
