On September 12, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Among this year's semifinalists is Greenwich Academy senior Caroline Carey.
Caroline qualified as a semifinalist by scoring in the top one percent on the preliminary PSAT given to juniors last spring. "The GA community is immensely proud of what Caroline has accomplished," said Head of School Molly King, "She is bright, hardworking, and determined—GA's values in action."
To become a finalist, each semi-finalist must submit a detailed scholarship application in which she provides information about her academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and honors or awards received. Finalists will go on to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $31 million.
Congratulations Caroline, and good luck!
