As GA seniors prepare to head off to college, they are also thinking about the careers that lay ahead. GA’s Career Resource Center organized a career day for the girls with the goal of providing students a glimpse of professional opportunities in a breadth of fields. This annual tradition pairs soon-to-be graduates with GA parents and alumnae for a day of dialogue and on-site visits.

Morgan D.’s learned a lot from her time at Google’s NYC headquarters, noting “It is such an innovative and multi-dimensional company with so many careers to offer that even seeing a small slice of it gives a window into a world of opportunities. In addition, we had a female host (Gail Livingston) and listened to a presentation and question and answer session with all women in Google. This was especially inspiring as it was International Women's Day, and we had an opportunity to talk about real life issues facing women in the workforce.”

Katie M.’s experience at Guardian Life Insurance Company was both informative and inspiring. “We met with several of Guardian Life’s legal, financial, and technology department heads, who all happened to be women,” she said, “It was great gaining insight into so many different fields of work. We were also lucky enough to meet with the CEO of the company in her office. It was wonderful to hear how these women are pursuing their career paths while also balancing their social and home life.”

This year’s career day worksites and hosts included: Blythdale Children’s Hospital, Susan Murray P’25; Guardian Life Insurance Company, Brendan Duffy; Google, Gail Livingston P’24, ’25; Twitter, Amanda Hascoe ‘09; Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Michael Fiore P’19; Great American Aquaculture, Eric Pederson P’21; Bank of America, Christian Meissner P’19; The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Greenwich Marketing Group, Fran Gormley PP’09.
