Allegra di Bonaventura ’80 didn’t set out to be an academic, but the number of degrees she now holds and her recently published book tell another story. “I can’t say I had a planned-out career path,” she says.  “I majored in history and German in college, with a minor in French, and history and languages have continued to be major running themes in my life.” After completing her undergraduate degree in only three years, Allegra continued her studies in France and Germany, where she earned a Masters degree in German Literature before going on to study business at the prestigious London School of Economics.  “I initially went into finance in New York out of both interest and fear, but soon realized that I wanted to become a historian,” Allegra recalls. “After I came to Yale to study for a PhD, I followed through on another seemingly unrealizable dream: going to Yale Law School to study law and legal history.” After completing her undergraduate degree in only three years, Allegra continued her studies in France and Germany, where she earned a Masters degree in German Literature before going on to study business at the prestigious London School of Economics.  “I initially went into finance in New York out of both interest and fear, but soon realized that I wanted to become a historian,” Allegra recalls. “After I came to Yale to study for a PhD, I followed through on another seemingly unrealizable dream: going to Yale Law School to study law and legal history.”
