RoboEpic, GA’s 11-member Upper School robotics team, competed against 33 tri-state area teams at the Hudson Valley Championship held at Pace University on February 16. The team gained entry to this competition by being a top contender at two qualifying events—the Hudson Valley Regional at JFK High on January 25 and the CT State Regional at Loomis Chaffee on February 1.
At this championship the girls faced tougher competitors, more experienced teams, and higher scoring robots. In five rounds of competition, RoboEpic achieved very high scores, including the second highest score of the day (313 points) in one of their matches. The girls were thrilled to win two awards. The first was the Promote Award, for their leadership-themed PSA video submission. The team also placed second for the Inspire Award, given to the best all-around teams.
RoboEpic’s outstanding performance earned the team a berth to the next level of competition as they continue their quest for a spot at the FTC World Festival. Up next for the girls is the Super-Regional Championship in York, PA, April 3-5.
Stay tuned for the next chapter in this exciting robotic adventure. Good luck girls
