Class of 2024 Mindful and Sustainable Rooftop

Originating with the Class of 1990, the Senior Fund has become a GA tradition. Parents of seniors contribute an increased gift to this fund, which is established in each class’s name in its senior year. The Senior Fund takes the place of the Annual Fund for parents of seniors and counts toward class participation numbers in all classes in which senior families have daughters.

The Class of 2024 is preparing to embark on their next chapter, and as we reflect on their journey, their experiences and resilience are truly remarkable. This class of bright and talented young women has a special bond. They have cheered and supported each other through both celebrations and challenges, the highs and the lows, throughout their academic years. Of fundamental importance, leading them through it all, is their health and wellbeing, which is our focus for our girls, as well as GA’s focus for current and future GA girls.

To that end, we are excited to announce a special initiative–the Class of 2024 Mindful and Sustainable Rooftop.  GA’s Upper School rooftop, already a cool and innovative architectural feature of the Upper School, is in need of renovation as part of its natural lifespan. This offers the perfect opportunity for this class to leave a positive and permanent mark on their school. It is our goal to reimagine the space into an oasis for all students to center themselves and focus on a healthy state of mind. The renovated green space will include sustainable features that help regulate the building’s overall temperature and picturesque grass and plant life will provide a quiet respite in the middle of a hectic day. The various nooks on the roof allow for personal moments to regain clarity as well as open space to gather as a group. A deep breath in and an exhale while taking in the beauty of the surrounding gardens and campus will be restorative for all GA students and faculty.

We invite you to be a part of this movement to bring mental health and mindfulness to the forefront of daily life at GA. A movement of making taking a break a sign of strength rather than of weakness; and perfectly aligned with School President Melina Salame’s motto for the year, stop and smell the roses! So, close your eyes, take a breath, and consider your daughter. Our gifts to the Class of 2024 Mindful and Sustainable Rooftop are a direct tribute to our girls and all they have achieved. Thank you for thoughtfully considering a gift. As a reminder, gifts to the Senior Fund are in lieu of the Annual Fund. To help fund and name this special project, Senior Fund gifts are traditionally two to three times a family's annual donation. Those with younger daughters will be counted for participation in those years as well.
