HOW TO APPLY

Getting Started

So many words and deadlines and boxes to check! We know it’s daunting. That’s why we’ve made every effort to present this process as clearly as possible. If at any time you have questions, please feel free to contact us. We’ll help you through it!

Step 1: Application

The process is slightly different for each division, but everyone starts by creating an account in our online application tool, inResonance. Submit Part I of the application and fee (waived if you’re applying for financial aid). We can’t schedule next steps until you complete this one.

Step 2: Interview

We schedule visits beginning in September through January. A personal interview with the candidate and her parents or guardians is required, and takes about 90 minutes, including a campus tour. A representative from the Admission Office will contact you to schedule an appointment once you have completed the online application (Part I).

Step 3: Testing

Testing is required for all applicants. You’ll find complete testing information in Admission Procedures below.

Step 4: Recommendations & Transcripts

The deadline for all recommendations from teachers and/or relevant adults, as well as current school transcripts is January 15. We recommend sharing these forms with the appropriate people after November 15. You’ll find recommendation and transcript release forms in your online application account.

Just a couple more things...

Expansion Years
Just as there’s an admission cycle to the school year, there’s also an admission cycle to the school divisions. At certain grade levels, classes grow and admit more students. GA has several expansion years:

Pre-Connecting
Connecting
Group V
Group VI
Group IX
Group X

Grades
At GA, we call grades Groups. Also, here grade numbers are noted in Roman numerals. So what would be grade 8 at most other schools, at GA is Group VIII. And so on.

School breakdown
GA’s division breakdown doesn’t always match up exactly with that of other schools. Please note how we comprise each division:

Lower School = PC & CC, Groups I-IV
Middle School = Groups V-VIII
Upper School = Groups IX-XII

Pre-K & K
At GA, pre-kindergarten is called Pre-Connecting Class and kindergarten is referred to as Connecting Class. Less formally, it’s PC & CC.

Tuition & Affordability

At GA, we match our mission to educate talented girls of exceptional character with a commitment to fostering a socioeconomically diverse community, and we are fortunate to be able to offer financial aid to more than 20% of the student body. The application deadline for financial aid is December 15, 2019.
