Admission Procedures for the 2019–2020 Academic Year

FOR APPLICANTS TO GROUPS IX-XI (GRADES 9–11)
All Upper School applications to Greenwich Academy must include the following:

PART I: APPLICATION FORM AND FEE
(Due December 15)
The application for admission (Part I) should be completed online with a non-refundable $75 application fee (fee waived if applying for financial aid). Please note that this part of the application and fee must be received by the Admission Office before an interview or individual tour can be scheduled. Applications received after December 15 will be considered on a rolling basis, subject to available places in a grade.

PART II: STUDENT INFORMATION FORM

(Due January 15)
The Admission Office would like to hear directly from each candidate in order to learn more about her. We request that applicants complete and submit the online Student Information Form (Part II) by January 15.

Please note: The Student Information Form (Part II) does not need to be submitted to the Admission Office before scheduling your interview/campus tour.

INTERVIEW AND CAMPUS TOUR

(Scheduled between September and January)
A personal interview with the candidate and her parent/guardian is required as part of the application process. After receiving the application for admission (Part I), the Admission Office will schedule an appointment to visit the school. Interviews take place beginning in September through January. A current Greenwich Academy student will take each family on a tour of the campus, followed by an individual interview first with the candidate and then with her parent/guardian. Please allow approximately 90 minutes for your visit.

ISEE OR SSAT TESTING
(Register as soon as possible)
Students applying to Groups V-XI are required to take either the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). To register contact the ISEE Office directly at 800.446.0320 or register online at www.iseetest.org or the SSAT Office at 609.683.4440 or register online at www.ssat.org. The ISEE test is administered at Greenwich Academy on Saturday, November 3, and Saturday, December 1, as well as at other local independent schools during the admission season. All candidates are requested to take the ISEE or SSAT by early January so that results can be received by January 15. Early registration is essential as spaces at all test sites are limited.

TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS
(Due January 15)
Recommendations from the candidate’s current English and math teachers are required. Please share these forms, available through your online application account, with the appropriate teachers at the candidate’s current school after November 15. In some cases, public school teachers are not allowed to fill out recommendation forms; in this instance, please share extracurricular recommendation forms with a coach, music teacher, or any other adult who has taught the candidate in some capacity.

SCHOOL RECOMMENDATION AND TRANSCRIPT RELEASE FORM
(Due January 15)
Please give this form, available through your online application account, to the Head of School, Principal, or Guidance Counselor at the candidate’s current school after November 15. The transcript must include the current year-to-date and previous full-year academic information, including any standardized testing.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Greenwich Academy welcomes applications from students who live outside the United States. Greenwich Academy is not an I-20 school and therefore we do not issue student visas. Should you have any questions about acquiring a student visa, we encourage you to contact your local consulate or an immigration attorney before beginning the application process.

NOTIFICATION
Letters of notification will be posted in late February. For a candidate to be considered in the initial round of admission decisions, all parts of the application must be completed by January 15. Families are encouraged to contact the Admission Office if questions arise at any time during the process. We thank you for your interest in and consideration of Greenwich Academy.
