Center for Public Purpose
The Center for Public Purpose puts GA’s motto, Toward the Building of Character, into action—first by building an inclusive school community in which students can practice authenticity and respect, and second by offering students opportunities to contribute to a more equitable society and peaceful world.
Community Engagement
Through student-led service, GA girls learn about the needs of our local community, about larger issues facing society, and how they can make a difference.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The entire GA community works to engage in meaningful dialogue around social justice and equity.
Global Initiatives
Through our Global Scholars program, study abroad opportunities, and expedition courses, GA is dedicated to promoting global awareness among all its students.
Institute for Public Purpose
This co-curricular program, which includes a trip to Washington, D.C., is essentially a lab course for citizenship, service, and participatory democracy. Any interested sophomore is invited to complete a micro-course in preparation for a week in the nation’s capital. The Institute focuses on the apparatus of government, including meetings with Congressional staffers, Councilmembers, and government-adjacent professionals such as journalists, attorneys, and administrators. Additionally, students explore the importance of community building and service. Working with local grassroots nonprofits, girls take a deep dive into specific needs being addressed at the local level. Formally launched in 2018, the IPP is now a cornerstone of GA’s character education and experience.
