Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

At its core, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging—DEIB—work is hard work and heart work. At Greenwich Academy, we believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is essential for our students to grow academically and personally. Our commitment to DEIB is grounded in supporting each student through the journey of identity formation, giving them language and skills to articulate exactly who they are. Every student should feel loved, respected, seen, supported, and valued. D + E + I = B. How we create opportunities and space for our girls is important. Our girls need mirrors to see and love themselves and windows to see, learn, and respect others. DEIB work is sometimes getting comfortable with being uncomfortable and it is also leading and learning with love and joy.

Diversity

We celebrate and embrace the unique differences among our students, staff, and community. By fostering an environment where various abilities, cultures, experiences, identities, and perspectives are represented, we prepare our students to thrive in a global society.

Equity

We strive to ensure that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This includes personalized support and policies and practices that address and remove barriers.

Inclusion

Our school is dedicated to creating an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We actively work to involve all students in school activities, decision-making processes, and leadership opportunities.

Belonging

We understand the importance of students feeling connected and accepted within their school community. Our programs and initiatives aim to foster strong relationships, mutual respect, and a positive school culture.

In Groups V-VIII, students engage more directly with DEI topics academically and in extracurriculars.
