From our Interim Head of School

Welcome to the Greenwich Academy community! 

For 200 years, Greenwich Academy has nurtured curiosity, confidence, and strength of character in our students. Our motto, Toward the Building of Character, celebrates the everyday choices and achievements of our girls and young women as they navigate a rigorous academic curriculum within a welcoming, supportive community. Character is woven into all that we do, and the notion of building is intrinsic to the GA experience in each division and across every discipline:

• GA Lower Schoolers build friendship and connection as they explore the natural world and open spaces that are central to the curriculum. The Lower School is a place of growth and discovery, building the foundations upon which all future learning and character development rests. The “Greater Gators” character curriculum similarly celebrates students as they learn to be generous and compassionate members of their community.
• GA Middle Schoolers get to work building in the Robotics and Engineering & Design Labs, just as they build community and leadership skills through team sports, service learning, club involvement, and student government. In the Middle School, girls deepen their academic skills, developing the self-knowledge, self-confidence, and self-advocacy skills to thrive in Upper School and beyond.
• GA Upper Schoolers continue this growth, building bridges between disciplines and across campuses as they immerse themselves in rich curricular and co-curricular options at both GA and through our coordinate program with nearby all-boys Brunswick School. The Upper School offers big-school opportunities within a small-school environment and the culture, strengthened by the Honor Code, celebrates character and leadership, preparing our students for purposeful lives beyond GA.

At GA, we believe that meaningful relationships are the bedrock on which young people build all else. Our students cherish their connections with each other, with our remarkable faculty, and with our community as a whole. These relationships transcend our classrooms and campuses, and they last forever.
