 | Nothing generates more enthusiastic astonishment over the school Greenwich Academy is today than giving a tour of the campus to alumnae who haven’t been to North Maple Avenue for some time. Inevitably, along the way, these walk-arounds get peppered with conversations with our students and faculty, and these impromptu connections never fail to enchant and impress our graduates. Our alumnae marvel at the grounds and facilities; noteworthy improvements include the Patsy G. Howard Upper School and new athletic fields, the Wallace Performing Arts Center, the Raether Athletic Center and the soon to be renovated Middle School. But what really inspires everyone are the faculty available after-hours to be a presence for the girls and the remarkably self-assured and poised Greenwich Academy students, always at the ready with insightful and heartfelt comments about academics and student life today. After seeing GA up-close, alumnae frequently voice the notion that although the campus is distinctively altered, the core values and dedication to character-building resonate as strongly as ever.
There is indeed strength in community be it the collection of food for those in need at the annual Academy tradition of Ingathering; the coming together of GA students to raise awareness and relief for the victims of several natural disasters; the vigorous response to multiple alumnae-driven community service days; or something as homespun and simple as a team potluck dinner. Similarly, the collective financial backing and countless volunteer hours given to GA by our alumnae and parents, parents of alumnae, grandparents and friends fortify the solid investment in this school's bright future. Every action and every gift surely keep the momentum going forward for the next generation of socially-conscious young women, academically and technologically prepared to take on the world like the legions of alumnae who have called this school theirs for the past 180 years. The Academy remains deeply grateful to you who so generously support the school's needs and aspirations. How true Tao Te Ching's words ring, "He who obtains has little. He who scatters has much." Please know how your commitment and interest make a difference at Greenwich Academy. We encourage your participation in all of our volunteer opportunities and welcome any thoughts you might have with regard to development and alumnae relations at Greenwich Academy. Thank you.
