4th Annual Fundance Foreign Film Festival Coming to Massey Theater
April 11-13, 2008

The Fundance Film Festival each year shows the best recent films that showcase children and young adults from around the world. Fundance audiences have been entertained and have gained insights into different cultures and hopefully in so doing will be better prepared to be citizens of the world. This year Fundance will take its audiences on a journey to Africa, China, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South America.

On Friday afternoon, April 11, the Fundance Festival will be showing films specifically chosen for Lower and Middle School students to enjoy in the company of their classmates.

At 12:30 PM Taina 2 will be shown. The film from Brazil won the Children’s Jury Award at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival in 2004 and features a girl, her friend and a monkey on a mission to protect the Amazon from poachers. GA Lower School and Middle School Grades 5 and 6 are invited to attend and have a pizza lunch prior to the screening. The film will finish at 1:45 PM.

At 2:00 PM, a 30-minute program of shorts will be followed by Leaps and Bounds, a film about two Iraqi brothers who are smuggled out of Iraq and mistakenly find themselves in Sweden where the younger brother pursues his dream of becoming a high jump champion with help of a coach and a hot dog vendor. This winner of the Best Action Feature Film at this year’s Chicago International Children’s Film Festival certainly will enchant audiences of all ages. All Middle School students are invited to attend and will be joined by Brunswick Middle School Students. This program will finish at 4:00 PM.

He receives word to return to his home, now controlled by the Taliban, to rescue the son of his former servant and best friend. Haunting secrets are revealed and ultimately a chance to find forgiveness.
