Greenwich Academy Archives

The Greenwich Academy Archives has a new home on the third floor of Ruth West Campbell Hall. The new room, with hand-painted walls and period wallpaper, is in itself an archive, providing an historical setting for its worthy contents. Among its holdings are documents from the Academy’s earliest days, scrapbooks chronicling many years’ activities, catalogues from the 19th century, personal records, and records of the Mothers’ Board, the Board of Trustees, and the Alumnae Association.

A valuable part of the Archives is its photograph collection. The sorting, cataloguing, and preservation of these photographs is a delicate and ongoing effort, guided by advice from the Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich.

Plans for development include cataloguing holdings in database form and building a second data base as a virtual scrapbook of current Academy activities. Most important is the continuing collection of current publications and material, which will be of as much use to future generations as our current Archives are in reviewing Greenwich Academy’s first hundred-seventy-six years.

We need your help identifying the multitude of photographs contained in our Archives. Click here and see if you can identify the people and places in these photos. If you can, email the information to Angela VanMoorsel with the corresponding number in the subject line.
