A MESSAGE FROM MOLLY H. KING

GA girls are bright, earnest, kind and eager to learn. Since 1827, generations of girls have contributed their unique and diverse stories to our community. While traditions like Ingathering and Charter Day bring us together and foster a sense of belonging, the warm and inclusive atmosphere of our school is derived from our deep appreciation of what each individual gives to the GA family. Together, we put forth our best efforts in academics, the arts, athletics and community service. The pursuit of excellence is a natural process for GA girls, who remain ever mindful of our motto—Ad ingenium faciendum, “Toward the building of character.”

When I asked how GA teaches the importance of character to its students, one Upper School girl replied: “I think the building of character is a part of every aspect of the school. I truly believe that character is instilled into the student body in subtle ways that we don’t always realize. We constantly are reminded about the importance of morals and character by faculty and administration, not by telling, but by showing. That’s one of my favorite things about the GA faculty. They never tell you something is right or wrong; they just lead by example and hope you will follow.”

Another girl spoke of the importance of the supportive student-teacher relationships as the key to character development. She said, “Teachers at GA are so important to the students because they demonstrate integrity and honesty. Having such close relationships with teachers helps students to develop character. We have so much respect for our teachers.”

GA girls understand that having a strong set of values and doing the right thing are absolute prerequisites to achieving success. An all-girls school empowers each girl by giving her extraordinary opportunities to discover her own strengths and talents. We set the bar high, and our girls always exceed our expectations.

I look forward to connecting with you soon.
